Austin’s Shooter Sentenced

Today, Johnson County District Court Judge J. Charles Droege sentenced Adam W. Purinton to a life sentence with no possibility of parole for 50 years (Hard 50) on Count 1. On Counts Two and Three, the Defendant was sentenced to 165 months on each count. All counts are to run consecutive to one another.

Adam W. Purinton has pleaded guilty as charged in case number 17CR514. The parties agree to a maximum sentence on each count that will all run consecutive to each other and to any sentence that may be imposed in Purinton’s Federal case.

This case was investigated by the Olathe Police Department, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Johnson County Criminalistics Laboratory, the Clinton Missouri Police Department, the Henry County Missouri Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Assistant District Attorneys Will Hurst and Aubrey Sample prosecuted this case on behalf of the State.

Adam W. Purinton, 52 years of age, of Olathe, has a scheduled plea hearing tomorrow, March 6, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Division 8 of the Johnson County District Court. Purinton is charged with one count of premeditated first degree murder in the death of Srinivas Kuchibhotla and two counts of attempted premeditated first degree murder for the attempted murders of Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot which took place at Austin’s Bar and Grill in Olathe, Kansas on February 22, 2017.
