Fire District #1 Of Johnson County completes prescribed burn at the Gardner Kill Creek Water Recovery Facility

Master Firefighter Adam Robinson oversees 2 burn crew members, Master Firefighter Eric Mills, and Firefighter Andy Robinson, during a prescribed burn of just over 8 acres at the City of Gardner Kill Creek Water Recovery Facility located at 159th Street and Kill Creek Road this morning.

A 5 person burn crew from station 121 completed the burn in 2 hours and accomplished all burn objectives safely.

Although Johnson County is still under burn restrictions for the month of April, to comply with the Kansas Flint Hills Smoke Management Plan, some burns are allowed to happen to maintain prairie grass habitat.
