Irvin “Irv” Clark Kneedler, 94, of Gardner, passed away April 30, 2017. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Fri., May 5, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thur., May 4, 2017 also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice or Gardner Special Olympics. Irv was born April 8, 1923 in Kit Carson County, CO to Myrtle Belle (Clark) and John William Kneedler. His family moved to Gardner from Colorado when he was five. Irv was a Gardner High School graduate. He served in the US Merchant Marine during WWII from Dec. 7, 1941 to Aug. 15, 1945. Irv married Nellie Deborah Winters on Oct. 10, 1942 in Olathe, KS. He owned I. C. Kneedler Homes from 1947-1988 where he built homes in the Gardner area. He also partnered with Dick Gieringer as K & G Builders for several years and helped his wife Nellie run The Trails Café until 1973. Irv was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gardner, KS and the Gardner Masonic Lodge. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting and weekly poker games with special friends as well as his weekly breakfast outings with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie, 2006; sons: Ed Kneedler, 2003 and John Kneedler, 2010; brothers: Falace, Ralph, John William and Wilbur Kneedler; sisters: Pauline, Evah and Wilda. Irv is survived by daughters: Pam and husband Bud Franchett, Gardner, KS and Patty and husband Paul Rodriguez, KC, MO; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
