WICHITA, Kan.— The State Farm Safety Assist program is ready for summer. Starting Memorial Day and proceeding through Labor Day, the Kansas Turnpike Authority, joined by State Farm, will increase its effort to provide assistance to Turnpike travelers with roadside emergencies.
During the summer months, an additional vehicle patrols the heavily traveled northeast Kansas route from Wichita to the Oklahoma border. The program already operates year-round in the heavily traveled Topeka to Kansas City corridor. The State Farm Safety Assist runs Monday through Friday 6-10 am and 3-7 pm and Sunday from 3-7 pm.
“Our support of the State Farm Safety Assist program embodies our ‘good neighbor’ philosophy,” said Ed Gold, State Farm advertising director. “It also underscores the continued commitment State Farm has to auto safety, while helping people recover from the unexpected, which is the heart of the State Farm mission.”
These vehicles are equipped with various equipment and tools prepared to help in any way they can. Assisting in tire changes, directing traffic, minor mechanical solutions, and transportation to safety are only a few of the services provided. All services offered are free to travelers thanks to State Farm’s sponsorship of the Kansas Turnpike program.
“This program really helps the Kansas Turnpike Authority, the Kansas Highway Patrol Troop G and customers,” said Captain Joe Bott, commander of KHP Troop G assigned to the Turnpike. “The Safety Assist technicians focus on taking care of vehicle-related issues, which allows the KHP troopers more time to dedicate themselves to law enforcement activities.”
“I totally appreciated being able to pick up my phone, dial *KTA and know that help was on its way,” said Betty P., who experienced a flat tire last May. “This is an invaluable service to anyone who has a roadside emergency!”
The State Farm Safety Assist Program is not intended to replace or interfere with services provided by private businesses. Technicians will provide only immediate services needed to ensure the safety of Kansas Turnpike Authority customers and the safe movement of traffic.
If motorists find themselves in need of roadside assistance on the Kansas Turnpike, they can call *KTA (*582). To learn more about the program, visit: http://bit.ly/2r
