Unwrap Your Attitude
Over time, everyone encounters circumstances or situations that are unexpected or difficult. Yet, how you deal with them involves personal choice. Attitude allows you to move ahead and make progress or remain mired in anger, resentment, hurt feelings or even failure. If you’re feeling angry, resentful or simply not performing at your maximum capacity, you can make some positive changes. None of these tips are a “quick fix” but each will bring you closer to finding peace, happiness and fulfilment.

Visualize the Future

Some people dwell on negative topics such as the “down economy,” people they may or may not agree with, being unhealthy, overweight, tired, stressed, or family and friends who do not behave in the manner we desire. Often, these same people spend time and energy discussing and thinking about things that happened in the past and the people who contributed and made things the way they are today. Positive thinking people tend to shy away from negative people and vice versa. Each type tends to seek others who think and feel like them. Worrying, feeling guilty and finding blame saps energy! Consider the philosophy, “your thoughts become your actions.” Take an audit of your sub-conscientious. What are you thinking about most? Once you have greater understanding about your current attitude, make an effort to re-direct your thoughts and form a clear visual image of what you want your life, community or business to be. What do you really want the future to look like? Then, move in that direction by methodically implementing the action steps to make that vision become reality and just let go of all the rest. It really is that simple.

Focus on Positive Solutions
Treat a negative attitude or problem issue as if you suspect you are infected with a serious virus and want a cure! Write down your answers to the following questions: What are my symptoms and when did they begin? Where was I and who was I with that contributed to or exposed me . . . what was the cause? Do/did those people exhibit similar symptoms? How will I feel when this is no longer a problem? Start by minimizing thoughts and your physical presence from the people, places and issues that are contributing to your negative attitude or problems. Instead, take a class, read a book or associate yourself with the people and activities related to the outcome you want to achieve. If you truly need and want things to change a shift will happen and you will be filled with creativity, energy, higher production and a positive attitude. You’ll enjoy life more!

Learn, Change, Grow
Remember, most clouds have a silver lining. Challenging or difficult circumstances often create a path toward success . . . but only if you are willing to begin the journey. Be open to learning, changing and growing as a human being. It is a personal choice you can make. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale is often considered the father of positive thinking and he once said, "Whenever God wants to give us a gift, he wraps it up in a problem." Search diligently for the gift hiding inside your problem wrapping paper. It’s waiting to be discovered and enjoyed!
