You’ve worked hard, you got the job interview. So – where to from here? Here’s some tips to help you perform well in the interview.
I know…it sounds ridiculous. But – if you don’t know your greatest strengths no one else will. Do the hard work to know what you offer a company. Skill, personality, and strength assessments are a great place to start. These can help you to summarize your greatest qualities in a succinct format and make you stand out above the crowd.
It’s surprising to know that many people don’t do their homework on a company before going to an interview. Research the basics on the web. You can get information from the company’s own website, plus find out what people are saying about them. The world is much more transparent than it used to be thanks to technology. The good and the bad are reported all over the internet.
Do as much research to learn the details of the position that you are applying for. It’s always fair to ask the potential employer for a copy of the position description. If it’s a more generic title (for example – ‘Accountant’), look up details on salary.com for position descriptions and salary ranges.
If you do the legwork, it will show. You’ll stand out above the rest in your knowledge as well as in your confidence in how you present yourself. And…you might just end up with the job of your dreams as a result……
