It’s easy to want a new career. It’s harder to take the steps to actually make it happen.
We all know someone who is miserable in their job. But – they are paralyzed by fear and can’t make a change. Here’s some of the typical excuses:
- What if I don’t find another job???
- I don’t want to give up the benefits that I have at this company.
- I don’t have time to make a career change!
- I’ve been here a long time – I don’t want to give up my retirement benefits.
- I’m not sure what I’d do if I did make a change!
Any of these reasons could be valid. But – most of the time…they are just an excuse – something to mask fear in a person’s life.
Time and time again, we see people that choose to make a change to a career that’s a better fit – and are very happy that they’ve made the change. Often, they realize only afterward just how miserable they were in their previous job. And – after the change, they often make more money and have even better benefits.
But – it takes courage…and a plan to make it happen.
