The Gardner Historical Museum is featuring two special exhibits through March - “Ghost Towns and One Room Schools of Rural Johnson County”.

Have you ever heard of Prairie Center, Kansas? Established on April 9, 1871, Prairie Center was located northwest of Gardner, southwest of DeSoto, southeast of Eudora and north of Edgerton (in other words, in the Center of the Prairie). At one time Prairie Center had 3 churches, a blacksmith shop, a store, a post office, and other small town amenities. What to know more? Head over to the Museum!

Museum hours are 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday through Tuesday and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday. Call 913-856-4447 to arrange special tours. Admission is free, although donations are appreciated!
