Weather permitting, the Old 56 Highway and U.S. 56 Highway Intersection Improvement project is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 5, 2010. This project, administered by KDOT and funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will include installation of a traffic signal, modified tee, concrete medians, eastbound right turn lane, pavement markings, and signage. During construction, which is expected to take 60 days, traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions. The public is advised to drive cautiously and expect delays. For more detailed information, please contact KDOT at 913-764-0987 or see the City's Current Projects web page.

gritch about but so love to use!!!! I love it when they do their hypocrite thing and make you think this project is not going to cost you a dime. Go to a City Council Meeting and note how they always bring up about how the state, the county or the federal government is going to pay for this or that project or a big part of it and they make it sound like it won't cost you a cent - money coming from the fairy godmother. Love that old time propaganda and rhetoric. That is what they refer to as "transparency" of government. They always throw this concept into their presentation and Drovetta and Lehman have been pros about matters of this sort - politicians thru and thru.
