The April edition of Gardner Utility News was released today. It consists of the City of Gardner's Annual Consumer Confidence Water report. In other words, it tells you everything you want to know about the quality of water provided to Gardner residents in 2009.
If you don't like reading details about what's legally allowed in your drinking water, then don't read the report! Rest assured that federal standards more than protect you and your family. The City of Gardner had no violations of drinking water regulations during 2009. Your water is safe.
Reading the report will inform you as to where our water comes from, what types of contaminants may be present, how the City tests for them, and what they do to remove them. The report also lists those groups (such as persons with immune disorders) who might be especially sensitive to water contaminants. Those individuals should discuss the question of drinking tap water with their doctors.
Elevated levels of lead in your drinking water can cause health problems, but generally is the result of lead leeched from your home plumbing. If this is a concern, the Utility News includes recommendations for limiting your exposure.
