An Open House has been scheduled to provide the public with an opportunity to review proposed revisions to the Comprehensive Plan for Tuesday, August 31st beginning at 6:00 pm. The event will be held at City Hall and will be a walk-in event. The Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on the proposed revisions at their September 14th meeting.
The Comprehensive Plan establishes the long-term goals and priorities of the community from a land-use perspective. Edgerton is anticipating growth in the future as the BNSF Intermodal Facility and Logistics Park-KC develops. The growth that the community experiences will expand the City's tax base and create thousands of jobs.
This growth is critical to the future success of the community, but it also is important for the community to get involved and discuss what kind of development is both wanted and expected. The Comprehensive Plan update sets the long-term vision for the community. Public investments such as infrastructure projects and public facilities are planned out in the Comprehensive Plan. The investments help the City direct growth where the community wants it to go and helps prevent leap-frog (sprawl) development.
It is important for the City to have your feedback on the Comprehensive Plan and the revisions that are proposed. We invite you to attend the Open House to learn more about the community's long-term plans and to voice your thoughts and ideas. Together, Edgerton will be a great place to live, work, and play.
