The 132-Member Gardner Edgerton High School Marching Blazers participated in the Emporia State University Marching Festival on Oct. 3, presenting an outstanding show titled “Bond, James Bond”. The performance featured the James Bond theme, Live and Let Die and Goldfinger.

The show featured the GEHS Colorguard tossing rifles, swing flags and 6 foot flags. Live and Let Die featured a brass quartet including Andrew Rose, Brett Lindstrom, Ryan Billups and Blake Swartz. Goldfinger included a prolonged percussion feature highlighted by Mati Diener and Abbie Lane twirling three batons at once. The band was lead on the field by Drum Majors Jayme Cannan, Scott Coble and Michael Fibelkorn.

Five separate judges rated and commented on the band according to a standardized rubric. Four of the five judges awarded the band a “1” rating with the final judge awarding the students a “2” rating, for an overall Superior “1” rating.

The band will be participating in the Central States Marching Festival on Oct. 13, held at Kansas State University.
