The Cities of Edgerton, and Gardner, Johnson County, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and the Mid-America Regional Council are hosting a Public Open House focusing on Future Land Use for the Southwest Johnson County Area Plan. The Public Open House is scheduled for Thursday, November 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Edgerton Community Hall, 404 East Nelson, in Edgerton.
Southwest Johnson County is changing and good planning can help to guide this change for the benefit of citizens, property owners, businesses, and visitors to the area. The Southwest Johnson County Area Plan is a unique partnership of the Cities of Edgerton and Gardner, Johnson County, the Kansas Department of Transportation, and the Mid-America Regional Council, to create a plan to guide the future for transportation, development, open space, natural resources, and special features in the area of the new BNSF Intermodal Facility and Logistics Park Kansas City.
The Public Open House will introduce the planning process with identical short presentations at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. After the presentations, the Planning Team will talk personally with citizens, property owners, developers, outdoor enthusiasts, public officials and anyone with an interest in the future of Southwest Johnson County about their plans, concerns, and priorities for their property and the overall area. Public participation will help plan for the future of Southwest Johnson County.
If you have questions about the open house, or require a sign-language interpreter or other communication aids at the open house, please call Kimberly Qualls, KDOT Public Affairs Manager at (785) 296-3881 in advance of the meeting.
