GARDNER, Kan. ---- Several lane closures will be in effect this weekend for Interstate 35 in Johnson County.

Below are the closures, courtesy of the Kansas Department of Transportation.

· All lanes of southbound I-35 from 119th Street to Santa Fe Drive will be CLOSED to all traffic for KC Scout overhead sign truss installation work at 127th Street on Saturday, July 13 for approximately 15-30 minutes sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. that day. Crews will be installing a large overhead sign truss across the roadway, thus the reason for the short-term full roadway closure.

· All lanes of northbound I-35 at Gardner Road will be CLOSED to all traffic for KC Scout overhead sign truss installation work at Moonlight Road on Saturday, July 13 for approximately 15-30 minutes sometime between 8:00 a.m. and NOON 12:00 p.m. that day. Crews will be installing a large overhead sign truss across the roadway, thus the reason for the short-term full roadway closure.

In addition, the following I-35 lane closures will occur:

· Southbound I-35 from 119th Street to 135th Street/Santa Fe Drive will be reduced to one lane for KC Scout overhead sign truss installation work at 127th Street on Saturday, July 13 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. the same day.

· Northbound I-35 from Gardner Road to Moonlight Road will be reduced to one lane for KC Scout overhead sign truss installation work at Moonlight Road on Saturday, July 13 between 8:00 a.m. and NOON 12:00 p.m. the same day.

Advance message boards will alert traffic to the roadway closures. Marked detours will be provided. See aerial map below for the northbound I-35 marked detour.

Drivers should expect MAJOR delays during the roadway closures and must use alternate routes. Updated daily traffic information for this project can be viewed online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
