Armed Subject Taken into Custody without Incident


Johnson County, KAN. – Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, along with Lenexa Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol, were able to take a person into custody without incident at 11:42 a.m. after a several hour search. The person taken into custody is a 23 year old white male.

Deputies responded to a call of a domestic argument between two subjects in the area of 83rd and Valley Spring Drive in De Soto, Kansas at 8:19 this morning. Upon arrival, deputies were told one of the subjects was inside the residence with a handgun. Attempts by responding officers to make contact with suspect inside the home were unsuccessful. It was discovered that the suspect had exited the residence through a back window.

With the assistance of Lenexa Police Department K9 Unit, and Kansas Highway Patrol Helicopter Unit, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect in a field near 84th and Valley Spring Drive where he was taken into custody without incident.

The identity of the suspect will be made available once he has been charged.
