(Gardner, Kan.)– The City of Gardner’s Bands in the Park and Movies in the Park series has become a combined event called Music and Movies in the Park, and it will begin Saturday, June 18, at Cornerstone Park. The first edition will feature a performance by rock band Under the Influence and a showing of the 2015 film Goosebumps.
Under the Influence, a seven-member group, has performed over 2000 concerts all over the country since 1992. The only act of their kind touting complete electric and acoustic sets, their high-energy presentation is a tribute to the attitude, character, heart and soul of rock & roll music. Goosebumps, a cinematic offshoot of the R.L. Stine novels, stars Jack Black as the real life author. In the film, Stine — along with his daughter and new neighbor — run into trouble when the monsters from the author’s books come to life. Goosebumps is rated PG.
The concert will run from 6:30-8:00 p.m. followed by the movie at 9 p.m. at Cornerstone Park, located at 215 N. Center St., behind Gardner City Hall. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Concessions from Polar Oasis Frozen Treats and Coffee Cake KC will be available for purchase.
The entire lineup for this summer’s concert and movie series is as follows:
