The USD 231 Board of Education and administration is pleased to announce the new principal for Pioneer Ridge Middle School. Board members approved the hire of Linda Miesner to replace current principal Tim Drake who will retire at the end of the current school year.
Miesner has served as the assistant principal and athletics/activities director at Blue Valley Middle School since 2009, and principal of Blue Valley Schools Extended School Year program (grades preschool through grade 12) since 2011. Prior to these duties, she held the positions of assistant principal and athletic/activities director at Pleasant Ridge Middle and science teacher at Blue Valley West High School and Blue Valley High School.
“I am extremely humbled and honored to be offered the opportunity to serve the students, parents, and faculty of such an amazing school,” said Miesner. “I believe it takes a strong community to build life-long learners which is what has made PRMS such an outstanding school. I am very fortunate to have this opportunity to join the Pioneer Ridge and USD 231 team.”
Miesner has been very active within her current district as a member of the District Planning Committee, the District Placement Review Process Team, representative of the local Defense of Our Schools Committee, Certified Community Emergency Response Training, and Student Activities Committee representative.
Miesner holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Emporia State University, a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a middle/secondary Science Teaching Certificate from University of Kansas. In addition, she has extensive training in staff development, assessment for learning, professional learning communities, curriculum mapping, special education programming, technology integration, and supervision of student activities.
“Linda’s varied experiences as a teacher, school leader and advocate for student success in and out of the classroom makes her extremely qualified to serve the students of Pioneer Ridge Middle School,” said Pam Stranathan, Superintendent of Schools. “She brings a wealth of middle school experience and will contribute greatly to the learning community and families of PRMS.”
