Agnes Mary Cox, 82, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away Dec. 6, 2017 at Vintage Park, Gardner, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Mon., Dec. 11, 2017 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main, Gardner, KS. Burial follows at 1:00 pm at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation 3:00 pm Sun., Dec. 10, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111 with a Rosary at 4:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Agnes was born July 3, 1935 in Lawrence, KS to Roy and Alice (Boehm) Curtis. She grew up in Lawrence and went to school at Ursuline Academy in Paola where she graduated in 1953. Agnes married Bernard Eugene Cox on Nov. 12, 1955 in Lawrence, KS. They moved to Spring Hill in 1969. Agnes worked as an elementary lunch worker in Spring Hill for 15 years. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Gardner, KS. Agnes worked with her husband on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, canning, doing crossword puzzles and growing flowers. Agnes will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard, in 2016; daughter, Jeanine Cox and brother, Conrad Curtis. Agnes is survived by her children: Jana (David) Youngman, Olathe, KS, Jon Cox, Spring Hill, KS, James (Shirley) Cox, Gardner, KS, Judy (Ron) Nelson, Hernando, MS; eight grandchildren: Justin, Derek, Tylor, Colton, Abby, Cooper, Jennifer and Jamie and one great-grandson, Thomas A.
