Francis Anthony Deters, 78 of Gardner, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Olathe Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main, Gardner, KS 66030. Visitation 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, 913-856-7111 with Rosary said at 8:00 pm. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at a later date at St. Columbia Catholic Cemetery, Gardner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Gardner VFW Post 11234. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Frank was born March 11, 1938 in Axtell, he was one of thirteen children born to Henry Francis and Cora Rose (Stueve) Deters. After graduating high school, he served in the US Air Force as an electronics technician. Frank was married to Myra Theresa Martinez on April 8, 1961. He worked at the US Weather Service and Bendix King before the Federal Aviation Administration until he retired in 1985. When they moved to their Gardner homestead in 1971 he returned to his favorite career of farming. Frank was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish, Gardner. In 1976, he graduated from Avila University with a BA in Accounting. He enjoyed spending his spare time at Perry Lake and Lake of the Ozarks with family. He also loved giving grandkids rides on his Kawasaki Mule around the farm. 

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Adrian and Donald (Rosemary) Deters; sisters: Dorothy (Celestine) Broxterman, Anna Marie (William) Bishop, Kathleen (Arnold) Miller, Betty (Ernest) Miller, Patricia (Andy) Durkes, Mary Claire Quaney and brother-in-law Gerald Bergman. Frank is survived by his wife Myra; three daughters: Angela Deters, Monica (Brian) Boutte, Gardner and Denise (Michael) Everhart, Wellsville and two sons: Henry (Brenda) Deters and Corey (Lindsey) Deters, Gardner; fourteen grandchildren: Jamie, Dane, Ashley, Chandler, Bryce, Michele, Joseph, Anthony, Taylor, Jace, Alexandra, Gracie, Trey and Logan; great-grandchildren Avery, Veda, Mila and Lily; sister, Majorie Bergmann of Mulvane and brothers: John (Annemarie) Deters, Colorado Springs, CO, Charles (Mary Lou) Deters, Topeka and William (Kathy) Deters, Hedgesville, WV and brother-in-law Tom Quaney.
