Mary Kathryn Bingman, 79, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Antioch Community Baptist Church, 22668 S. Waverly, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 before the service. Cremation to follow with inurnment at a later date at Antioch Cemetery, Spring Hill, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Mary was born on October 7, 1939 in Rose Bud, Arkansas to William Otis and Zoerine (Clay) Reedy. Mary grew up in Arkansas and moved to Kansas City, Kansas when she was a junior in high school. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1957. She married Ken Bingman on June 21, 1958 in Kansas City, Kansas. Ken and Mary were parents of sons Michael and Jeff. The family moved to the Antioch community in 1969. Mary was a member of the Antioch Community Baptist Church for 50 years. Mary loved to garden and was a favorite at the Spring Hill Farmer’s Market. She was known for sharing her vegetables with many. Mary was a true farm girl and had a passion for her animals and plants. She enjoyed raising chickens, duck, rabbits, and goats. Mary was a 10 year volunteer at Critical Care Unit at Olathe Medical Center. She loved to travel, visiting 26 countries abroad including two trips to Tanzania, Africa. Mary was an ambassador for the People to People program. Mary is remembered as a kind and caring woman. She lovingly helped raise her three granddaughters and great-grandson.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son Michael, siblings Marie Covington, Edwin Reedy and Charles Reedy. She is survived by her husband Ken of the home, son Jeff (Rebecca), Olathe, Kansas, three granddaughters: Afton, Kara and Avery, great-grandson Ander, and sister Marketa McAfee, Kansas City, Kansas.
