Carolyn Wood, 80, of Carbondale, KS, passed away Dec., 19, 2017 at Midland Care Connection Hospice, Topeka, KS. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial follows at Edgerton Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, preceding the service at the funeral home. Carolyn was born Jan. 4, 1937 in Arkansas to Albert F. and Mary L. (Haynes) Jackson. She graduated from High School in Salem Arkansas. Carolyn married Owen Wood on Apr. 17, 1954 in Sturkie, Ark. They retired in 1990 and moved from Olathe to Overbook, KS, where they became members of the South Knollwood Baptist Church. Carolyn was a housewife and enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening. She loved to cook, fish, swim and southern gospel music. Carolyn loved her family and her grandchildren. She had the special ability to make them all feel that each of them was her favorite. Carolyn will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Wood; siblings, Mabel Galati, Pauline Dreyfus, Maxine May, Ruby Knox, Clifford Jackson, Gene Jackson and Bill Jackson. Carolyn is survived by her husband; son, Terry (Barbara) Wood, Edgerton, KS; daughter-in-law, Pam Wood, Coffeyville, KS; six grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, with two more on the way.
