Thelma Viola Dwyer, 93, of Edgerton, KS passed away March 29, 2016 at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Mon., April 4, 2016 at Assumption Catholic Church, Edgerton, KS. Thelma was born May 18, 1922 in Gardner, KS to Joseph Harold “JH” and Stella Victoria (Green) LaGalle. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1940. Thelma married Bernard Dwyer on July 18, 1946 at Assumption Catholic Church in Edgerton, KS. She worked as a school secretary at Edgerton Elementary, then Edgerton High School and later moved to Gardner Elementary for many years. During her marriage Thelma helped Bernard farm for many years. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. Thelma was a member of the Fiddlers and Pickers Assoc. of KS where she served as Sec./Treas. for many years and a charter member of the Docey Dandies Square Dance Club, Gardner, KS. Thelma enjoyed traveling on senior bus trips and cooked the Senior Dinners for years at Edgerton City Hall. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard, in 1990 and her brother, Harold LaGalle. Thelma is survived by her son, Terry Dwyer and daughter, Sharon Dwyer both of Edgerton, KS; cousins: Mildred Morrison, Spring Hill, KS, Roy and Marie Stanton, Spring Hill, KS and Melvin Bond, Mission, KS; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
