Stokes Signs with Iowa Lakes - Addtl Info

Tyler Stokes, GEHS Class of 2009, today signed a letter of intent to wrestle for Iowa Lakes Community College. Iowa as a whole takes wrestling very seriously, as does Stokes. Iowa Lakes Community College is in Esterville, Iowa. Last year was their first year to have wrestling at their school and they finished 6th in the Nation. Their head coach is Jason McCloud and they are very excited to get Tyler at Iowa Lakes for next year. Tyler plans to study Construction Management while attending Iowa Lakes.

Tyler Stokes is Gardner Edgerton High School's first two-time state champion in wrestling. He wrestled at 119-pounds this year and below are some of his stats.

118-24 Career Record
State Champion in 2007 at 103 lbs.
State Champion in 2008 at 112 lbs.
Holds 3 School Records - Most Career Pins (86), Most Pins in a Season (29), Most Career 2-Point Near Falls (78) 2-Time Regional Champion 2-Time Frontier League Champion

He was ranked #2 in the Kansas High School Wrestling 2009 Rankings. Wrestling USA Magazine ranked him #8 of their Best 2008-2009 High School Seniors. And Stokes was named #95 amont Intermat's Top 100 Recruits for 2009.

Stokes will be attending Iowa Lakes on a full-ride scholarship. In Iowa, Tyler will face the best of the best.

As a fellow Iowaion, I can say that Wrestling is a second religion. This is huge if you can get a full ride to Wrestle in the State of Iowa Community College or not. Best of luck and it is true You will see the Best of the Best. Congrats!!!
