Gardner-Edgerton High School athlete Bubba Starling will play in the annual Under Armour All-American Baseball Game this Saturday in Chicago.
Bubba Starling is on a roster of international all-star high school baseball players who will show their abilities under the national spotlight at the Chicago Cubs’ Wrigley Field.
The game, sponsored by Under Armour and the Baseball Factory, will air on the Major League Baseball Network and MLB.com. The Network and Web site will begin its broadcast at 12 p.m., and will re-air the game on Sunday at a time to be announced.
The game will showcase 36 of the world's most promising rising juniors and seniors, competing in an American versus National match-up. The players are selected by a committee of Baseball Factory and Team One Baseball scouts.
The Under Armour All-America Baseball Game has become the premier event in the sport, exposing players to the top coaches and recruiters in the baseball. In both the 2009 and 2010 amateur player drafts, a total of 58 of the 72 players who participated in the 2008 and 2009 Under Armour All-America Games were selected in the draft. Of the 2009 Under Armour All-Americans, five players were drafted during the first round.
