Blazer Soccer kick off the season
Posted on Sep. 2nd, 2010
Blazer soccer officially kicked off their season last night against Shawnee Mission North. “After an obviously emotional start to the season I cannot explain how proud I was of our guys last night. They honored the memory of an exceptional young man and played their hearts out for the first time without our Captain center back,” said coach Andy Weber.
The scoreboard didn't end up the way Varsity would have liked as we were scored on mid-way through the 2nd half and lost 1-0. The entire Varsity defensive unit is new to the position this year and I'm very proud of how they stepped up and played. We have a Freshman Goalie (Andrew Dittemore),
Freshman Center Back (Luke Fischer), and a Senior who volunteered to move from a starter in the
midfield to Center Back (Thomas Speers).
We had our chances to score early, but were unable to. We'll make the necessary adjustments and take the field again at Mill Valley next Tuesday.
Our coaching staff and players would like to thank all of you for the support during a tough
time for our team. We had a great crowd last night and have felt the support of a community.
The JV started out the year with a win against Shawnee Mission North (3-1). Blazer Goals came from Brent Spalding, Jake McIntire, and Jaun Carlos Ramirez off a PK. A great night on the pitch for
these boys--give them a pat on the back.
