GEHS Softball Results from Blue Valley Southwest

The Varsity and JV softball teams traveled to Blue Valley Southwest.

The first few innings of the Varsity game was a battle of some great pitching and windy conditions!   Abby Cox faced some tough hitters and ended the first game with 5 strike outs!  At the plate early, the ladies made some solid contact on the BVSW pitcher, but we could not put the hits together!   In the bottom of the fourth inning, BV Southwest had a couple hits and scored two runs.  The Blazers do not give up– We were down, but it wasn’t over — Cassidy Greer (3-4 with 2 stolen bases) started off the top of the sixth with a single and several hits followed! Sydney Anderson (1-3), Abby Cox (1-3) and Ashlyn Anderson (1-3 with a triple) strung together a few hits to score three runs!   Defense held strong to finish out the game with a win 3-2!!

The Blazers came out in the first inning of the second game and scored two quick runs.  We would threaten every inning at the plate, but were not able to get the runners home, leaving 15 runners on base for the game.  There were some great defensive plays: Kennedy Meyer covered an empty third base to make a bang bang play at third, Ashlyn Anderson had some great plays at shortstop!   Going into the bottom of the 6th up 2-1, BVSW put 5 runs on the board.   Now 2-6 in the top of the 7th, the attitude in the dugout was bat through the lineup!!  The Blazers fell short only scoring one and loosing 3-6.     Sydney Deitz went 4-6 and Cassidy Greer went 4-8 with 4 stolen bases for the night!

Last night the JV softball team traveled to Blue Valley Southwest for a doubleheader VS the Timberwolves. On a night where the wind made it a hard night for hitting, the Blazers struggled adjusting their swings. The girls hit a lot of balls that on a normal night would find their way in a gap or over the outfielder’s head, unfortunately they were held up by the wind and found their way into the gloves of the Timberwolves. The Blazers had two chances to score runs in the 2nd inning.  They had the bases loaded with 1 out, and in the 6th had 2nd and 3rd with no outs but unfortunately couldn’t push a run past and lost the 1st game 3-0.

In the 2nd game, the girls adjusted their swings and started finding the holes and came away with a 10-0 win. Britney Davidson and Aubrey Hamilton both pitched extremely well with Aubrey coming away with a 1 hit shutout in the 2nd game. Gabby Schultz was 6-8 with 4 stolen bases and 2 RBIs for the doubleheader and Ivy Brewer was 4-8 with 3 stolen bases and 2 RBIs  to lead the Blazers at the plate.

Varsity and JV will be back on the field tomorrow as they travel to Blue Valley West!    C Team will have their first double header this evening at Blue Valley!
