The 7th grade varsity Jaguars hosted the Wildcats from Louisburg on a storm threatening evening. The Jags opened the game with Tyler Butash taking the kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown (2 pt conversion no good). The Jags defense was up for the challenge and dominated the line of scrimmage in the first half. The defense, led by Gabe Carr-Castillo, Connor Kilgore, Macio Parra, and Josh Hunter on the defensive line, giving up only 4 first downs.
The Jags offense also dominated the first half, having no problems moving the ball between the 20 yard lines. However, once the Jags got the ball inside the red zone they struggled to put points on the board. The catch of the year occurred in the 2nd quarter as the Jaguars faced a crucial 4 down and 15. Braden Smith lofted a pass 20 yards down field and Carter Dewey made a spectacular over the shoulder catch to keep the drive alive. The Wildcat defense tightened up and forced the Jags to turn the ball over on downs.
In the 4 quarter the Jags ran out of steam and Louisburg was able to find the endzone to increase their lead. The Jags offense had a drive going late in the 4th quarter, but it was stopped as the weather forced the game to be stopped with 1:07 left to play.
